So we packed the truck for the last time this morning, and relieved we were to not have to do that any more. 30 days of Packing and unpacking the tents, the kitchen, our bags, our clothes.
We set out out early for the last time today, we aimed to arrive into Johannesburg around 2pm which was perfect, as we were expecting 4pm and to arrive earlier into Sun City was Ideal as we were strongly advised not to drive after dark.
Which I had heard for numerous reasons, Between car jacking, Cattle on the roads and a sense of direction.
We said out goodbyes, exchanged our contact details and that was it. It was all over 30 days of 30 has come to an end.
Now its time for my type of Vacation, and plenty of comforts on the Horizon.
We had another TIA moment actually a few, but the main was picking up our car rental, wow was that fun. We were dropped off at the Airport to pick up our car to set out for our 2 hour drive.
It was about 3pm by the time we arrived at the airport. I thought perfect this now means that I have 2 hours to get there before 6pm and skip the traffic leaving Johannesburg and arrive just in time for a hot Shower before dinner. WELL, nope there is was again TIA. there was an error in Hertz's car reservations system that said we no showed for our vehicle and that we were supposed to pick it up on the 4th of April. My paperwork stated other wise. The main complication this caused was that there was no vehicle that we had reserved (SUV). So they had to spend about an hour sorting it out.
While it was sorted and we did eventually get the car I paid for, We were now leaving at 4pm as originally expected. This also meant traffic and sun down before we would arrive.
Anyway we said TIA and got on the road and before we knew it we were stuck in traffic bumper to bumper. There was a pretty serious accident on the N1 and delays were horrendous.
We were now at 5:20pm and hadn't even left Johannesburg yet. I was pretty annoyed at this point as the sun was starting to set, I was getting quite anxious. Driving was fine, it was the road that was diminishing before me. The Lines on the road started the fade as did the sunlight. It seriously went that dark I couldn't tell if I was still on the road or not. We were on a dual lane road with no traffic lights very poor road conditions with no lines and oncoming traffic that was continuously flashing their high beam headlights, to see the road I presume I did it a few times myself.
After a the white knuckled drive, we arrived in one piece into Sun City and what an entrance it was we drove onto the circle driveway over a moat bridge and into the Palace of the Lost city.

After check in and a brief look around after dinner. We crashed out early to make the most of our full day here.
The morning started with the best breakfast I have every had, the choices were endless and there was complimentary champagne on arrival into the Breakfast room. A Pianist was playing a grand piano and the floor to ceiling doors were open all around the room, these doors were about 3 stories tall and mostly glass.

We went onto the Valley of the waves after Breakfast and due to a power failure all the slides were out and remained that way for the rest of the day, dissapointing but given how cold the water was we were ok with just a quick paddle anyway.
We decided to walk around the water park and then onto the suspension bridge up to the the Lost Maze.
We thought it was pretty childish but we though we had nothing else to do while we were here so we decided to give it a go.
Needless to say we got lost serval times but the bar at the end with 8 craft beers to taste for $5 each was worth it.

We ventured back down to the Pool area after that and chilled their for most of the afternoon before a Late lunch.
We made reservations for Dinner at the neighbouring hotel "The Cascades" and prior to that we went to the casino we didn't win much or Loss that much the Rand is 10:1 to our dollar almost so when we thought we were playing with R200 we were really playing with $20.
It was fun, we hit up the blackjack tables and the roulette, naturally it was covered with Indian and Asian Tourists and kinda ruined that part of the experience as it was hard to get on the table and play comfortable without being pushed and shoved.
This morning was had a decent sleep in, up at 9:30 as opposed to the 5am starts we have been having and a late breakfast.
Our transfer was for 12:30, complimentary I might add the airport was only 7km away.
The flight today was supposed to be 2:20 mins direct into Cape Town.... But wait .... TIA
Your flight has been cancelled, you will now need to fly via Johannesburg to catch a new flight to Cape town, we are now going to be arriving 3 hours later.
HAPPY DAYS!!!
Well the plane is here now so I guess that is it for now.
Cape Town here were come.
